About Kirkbrae Aged Care and Retirement Living

Nestled at the foothills of the Dandenongs Ranges, we were established in 1960 and offer a supportive community for older people to live among friends. Our fully accredited aged care home provides 78 beds and is situated at the heart of the community. The home is designed with charm and has a homelike atmosphere allowing residents full enjoyment of their social activities, with lounges and dining rooms overlooking tranquil gardens areas. There are 78 retirement units set within parklike surrounds. Easy access to facilities, such as the community hall, is provided by a series of pathways. Residents enjoy a wave to their neighbours, and it’s only a short stroll to the handy bus stop at the main entrance.

Pastoral care

We have a Pastoral Care team on-site full time who provide emotional and spiritual support to residents of any denomination and visit residents if they request.

We welcome residents from all faiths to our community, and our philosophy revolves around being ‘Partners in Care’. Kirkbrae is owned and operated by the Presbyterian Church of Victoria, with the residents’ wellbeing at the centre of everything we do. We strive to deliver the very best in aged care services with respect, dignity and compassion.

A simple philosophy guides everything we do at Kirkbrae – ‘In life, look after people the way you would want to be looked after yourself’.

On the day you move in our care team will support you through the entire process and make you feel welcome amongst friends

Our people

It’s our people that make the Kirkbrae community special, and we are incredibly proud of our team and their ability to provide compassionate care to residents and their family. Quality systems and integrated technology are foundations for best practice by staff, resulting in high standards of personalised resident care.

Everyone plays a vital part from nursing staff and cleaners, to chefs, gardeners and administration. Investment in staff wellbeing and education is a priority at Kirkbrae, with constantly available support from our Pastoral Care team and external professionals.

Volunteers are important members of our team, generously giving their time, and sharing their skills, abilities and hearts. We provide student-placement opportunities, sharing our knowledge and our philosophy with future carers.

Governance

Kirkbrae is part of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria (PCV) (www.pcv.org.au).

Kirkbrae is registered with the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission (ACNC) as the Presbyterian Church of Victoria Social Services Committee (ABN 88 062 387 499) and is governed by its responsible persons as registered with the ACNC, in conjunction with the Ad Hoc Enactment of Presbyterian Care Victoria Limited Committee (AHEC) a Committee of the PCV. However, there is membership overlap between the two groups. Over the coming months a new entity, Presbyterian Care Victoria Limited (PCVL), will take full governance responsibility for Kirkbrae and the members of the AHEC will become the inaugural Directors of PCVL. This transition is still subject to regulatory approvals at this time.

The governing committee appoints and works closely with the Chief Executive Officer/Facility Manager to ensure Kirkbrae delivers on its Mission to serve the residents of our community. This is achieved by ensuring the provision high quality care and lifestyle options to our residents while ensuring the sound management of all strategic, financial and operational matters related to Kirkbrae.
